Legal Assistance

Do you need help filling out legal forms? Are you being sued, but don't know what to do? Community Action of Ventura County Inc. can help. We provide no-cost legal assistance to the low-income, homeless and other disadvantaged residents of Ventura County who qualify under our funding guidelines.

However, there are many residents of Ventura county who do not meet the income guidelines required by the state of California, but also do not have the income to afford  document preparation or paralegal services, much less the services of an attorney. For this reason, the Legal Department of the CAVC has developed a program to meet the legal needs of this community. Our fees are much more affordable than other discount legal providers serving the same clients and make legal advice attainable for everyone.

CAVC’s Legal Department’s no-cost services are funded by the federal government, contributions and donations, and funding from various cities in Ventura County.

DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES

  • Family Law – Divorce, Paternity, Legal Separation, Judgment, Order to Show Cause, Responses, and Financial Documents

  • Probate - Conservatorship, Guardianship, Wills, Advanced Health Care Directive

  • Landlord – Tenant - Response to Unlawful Detainer

  • Miscellaneous - Stepparent Adoption, Civil Harassment Restraining Order, and Domestic Violence Restraining Order.
